Re: Partial lunar eclipse « Result #3 Today at 1:17am »
Well done Jonathan. I managed to get a few glimpses of it through the clouds. It was a bit more obvious than I'd been expecting, according to the predictions beforehand.

Mars Profiler « Result #5 Yesterday at 11:42am »
Although the weather has been pretty miserable of late, I have been managing to get some good views of Mars from my back garden. I got a nice view of the northern polar ice cap, along with the Mare Acidalium, last Sunday night. I used the Celestron C6, with the Hyperion 8mm eyepiece and the 28mm tuning ring. This is a handy tool, which I had saved last time Mars was around, which helps to identify what is visible at any given time. Click on the red words "Mars Profiler" at the beginning of the second paragraph to open it. Make sure to enter what type of scope you are using. Hope some of you find it useful.

NIAAS January Meeting « Result #8 on Dec 30, 2009, 10:42pm »
The next meeting of the Northern Ireland Amateur Astronomy Society will take place on Monday January 4th in Ballyclare High School, Ballyclare, Co. Antrim, commencing at 8PM. Directions can be obtained on our website at http://www.niaas.co.uk
‘NIAAS Members and Beginners Night’
Speakers – Brian Stafford, Ralph Gault, Patrick Watson and others tbc.
This month we have invited some of our NIAAS members to talk about their own particular interest in Astronomy. This has become a yearly event for us, and usually touches on a wide range of subjects. This year should continue the tradition.
In addition, beginners in Astronomy, and those who may be lucky enough to have received telescopes for Christmas but finding them a bit daunting are invited to bring them along where they can have all their questions answered and receive any help they need to get them up and running!
Morbo: "Morbo will now introduce tonights candidates. Puny human number one, puny human number two and Morbo's good friend Richard Nixon." Nixon: "Hello Morbo. How's the family?" Morbo: "Belligerent and numerous." Nixon: "Good man, Nixon's pro-war and pro-family."
