Sorry Mia, I only saw that message this morning. I'll definitely go to the next one. I think I could do with some experienced folk on hand to show me what to do. Apart from the moon and the pleades I couldn't find anything!! Light polluted Carrick didnt help either!!

You'll see some good stuff with that 8", James! First off, a collimation. I'll do it for you if you want.

Nope! Keep it where it is. I'll do it at your home, preferably. A laser collimator's one thing you should think about getting. I collimate every time I go out, and it really does need to be done. It takes a relatively short time...I can do mine in less than 5 minutes, sometimes only a couple, even! In addition, a good finder is a valuable addition. A Telrad if you can afford it, if not, a red-dot finder. They're also invaluable!

Got a red dot finder with it. Aye I think a laser collimater is next on the agenda. I suppose I should just learn to do these things myself. Start as I mean to go on.

It's always easier if you're shown, James. Very, very easy to use.....even better if you get Bob's Knobs!

Nice one, James! Perhaps this is the start of good things to come - you've set a precedent by buying a new scope AND gettting clear skies to use it, at the off! You could be our Clear Skies Mascot!
