Hey Guys!
My names Karl - Got recommended here by Neil P! (cheers buddy)!
I'm a big astronomy and physics fan, do a lot of sudy and reading on it in my spare time, along with my other passion of playing music.
But I really want to get my hands dirty in the field of actual viewing with telescopes!
bought a sky watcher 200p with an HEQ5 sometime last year - due to a bit of knocking about, it's came quite badly of out collimation.
I got a Chenutse collimator, and I cannot use the thing to put it simply!
was thinking about taking it somewhere to get it collimated or thinking of buying a refractor that would fit the HEQ5.
Regardless, would love to joing you guys once the star session returns!
If I need to do something for that to happen. make a sacrifice to the gods, or develop a light drive, let me know sure ; -)
pleasure to be here guys, thanks!

Hi Karl, and welcome to the forum.
We don't normally get out much at this time of year, as the nights do not really get dark enough for observing most things in the sky. Observing sessions will probably start up again around 18th or 19th of July. We never plan to go out on the weekend nearest the Full Moon, as again, the Moon tends to blot out everything else. Conversely we always plan to go out on the weekend nearest New Moon, but this is, of course, weather dependent.
However, there is a chance we may go out on Tuesday or Wednesday night to see the close conjunction of Venus and Jupiter. We will probably go to our main observing site at Killylane, as we will get a good view from there. There is a thread on the Astronomy Talk forum about this, so keep an eye on that to see what is happening. As with all observing sessions, we will probably not make a final decision to go until around 7 or 8pm. Bring your scope along and we will get it collimated for you.
If you don't know where Killylane is, let us know roughly where you live, and we will make arrangements for someone to meet up with you.
