Good Morning Stephen,
I wanted to circulate some information about an upcoming event we have here at the Planetarium on October 13th 2017 ‘Life in a Finely Tuned Cosmos – Public talk by Visiting Professors Geraint Lewis and Luke Barnes’.
Professors Geraint Lewis and Luke Barnes from the University of Sydney, Australia are the authors of a new book: “A Fortunate Universe: Life in a Finely Tuned Cosmos”.
In this exclusive public talk, Geraint and Luke will take you on a grand tour of the Cosmos in all of its glory, over all of its history, and in all of its mystery. You will see that humanity appears to be part of a remarkable set of circumstances involving a special time around a special planet, which orbits a special star, all within an amazingly finely balanced Universe. Without these perfect conditions, our universe would be dead and sterile, and, with Geraint and Luke, we will wonder why we are here.
After the fascinating talk the Planetarium will be screening a brand new Digital Theatre show “The Phantom of the Universe: the Hunt for Dark Matter”.
This new full dome planetarium show covers the mysterious subject of dark matter in the Universe, from the Big Bang, to galaxies, to a deep underground experiment, to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator in Switzerland.
Tickets can be booked online at www.armagh.co.uk/event/life-in-a-finely-tuned-cosmos-public-talk-by-visiting-professors-geraint-lewis-and-luke-barnes/ or contact the Planetarium on 02837 523689.
Price: Adult £5, Concession £2.50
