This is great! As I'm suffering from the lurgy right now, I'm not supposed to be going out, but when you see a sight like this, it just has to be shot! It's got the Moon, M45, Mars, Aldebaran and the Hyades and Moonshine on the Irish Sea in it. Enjoy! Clear skies, Paul.

The light pollution is a bit of a mixed bag. Out of the front of my house you see we have the lights of the town and more significantly the lights from Larne Harbour. The dunderheads who put the lights in there didn't realise that the point of having them high up is that they could be pointed downwards! The back of my house is an entirely different kettle of fish. Althoug it's up hill, so there's no horizon and sunsets are out of the question, it is actually pretty dark although long exposures have a pinkish cast on them. It is certainly better than Bangor where I lived before I came here which had a uniform orange glow to the sky. Of course before that I lived in SW London where only the very brightest stars penetrated the orangeness, so here's really rather good by comparison!
I don't have to go far to find real darkness up in the Antrim Mountains, but the weather's not so good up there. You just can't win!
