Hello folks. Recent coverage of comet C/2012 S1 Ison has reignited my interest in astronomy after many years gap. I've bought a new scope, a Celestron C8 on a CG5 mount to which I've added a Skywatcher Synscan Goto upgrade. I'm looking for a dark sky site with about 30 minutes drive of Banbridge. Does anyone on here know of such a place?
Thanks. Harry.

Hi Harry, and welcome to the forum.
Although I do not know your part of the world all that well, I would think that the best dark sky site near you, which is regularly used by amateur astronomers, would be Delamont country park, near Downpatrick.
This society normally uses the Dungonnel reservoir near Cargan, on the Ballymena - Cushendall road, or Killylane reservoir, on the A36 Ballymena - Larne road. Both of these would be a fair drive for you. We also go to Bragan mountain in County Monaghan, about 8 miles south of Clogher.
