Hello all, I just found out today that Tyrone Council are building an observatory in Davagh Forest, near Cookstown, and is also getting a dark sky certification. Suprised I have not heard anything about this, has anyone on the committee known about this? Could be exciting to be part of this an get involved some how.
I hadn't heard of the observatory plans but as a Tyrone resident I've known about Davagh and beaghmore being touted as dark skies. Ive been to the stonecircles there myself for a night hosted by Armagh planetarium there. It's a great spot to observe and when the seeing is good it can be spectacular as with Gortin area too.
The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.
conor1: Hi guys/girls, my name is Conor O' Boyle. I recently got a Celestron Nester 8se for Christmas, I am keen on getting into the scene here. Can anyone give me any pointers to start off? Cheers?

NeilP: I was wondering shall we try our usually unsuccessfull Messier Marathon again this year? The weekend of March 20th/21st/22nd looks the best we could carry on from the eclipse
