I started observing of Friday night about 11:30pm when I hauled out the 8.5" Dob. It's so long since I used it I had to think about where to put the eyepiece! Several good views were obtained while I waited for the almost last quarter Moon to rise above the hedge in the next garden. I observed the usual suspects, a number of Messier's etc. When the Moon rose high enough I brought out the ETX90mm. I wanted to test how fine a detail I could image on the Moon. On or near the terminator were the Hyginus Rille and the Ariadeus Rille, the crater Hyginus is only 4.5 miles in diameter. To my surprise the processed image shows both, which is not too bad for a 90mm scope! I also tried some avi with the Dob but with no tracking the image may not be good,I still have to try and process them. I was troubled from time to time with very high thin cloud which made the image resemble that viewed through water. However, it was very enjoyable, and my session ended about 3am. Below is the image showing the Hyginus and Ariadeus Rilles, the former near centre, the later right of centre. The smallest crater visible is roughly 2 miles across!

John that is a real beauty....im very impressed! Its also great to see lunar features that are 'not' the usual suspects on images. I find the detail you have captured here to be fantastic and very refreshing to look at...nice one

Thanks guys! Here is another one from Friday night/Sat morning. It's one of the usual suspects I'm afraid, but the mountains looked very nice at lunar "sunset". Have just noticed that this image merges with the one above! that's one for the imagery wizards amongst you ;D

Great capture John. I experienced that high moisture bands as I was imaging and the M31 and Moon shots I took were sooo soft and watery they were unusable.
