mars watch was my first time meeting other members and although a member for a while i knew nobody!!! we had a great night on saturday and my kids really enjoyed the presentation and the telescopes.I live in newcastle and travelling can sometimes be a problem due to my job.any future evenings i would love to hear about.well done all concerned!!!

Thanks Murta. All in all the weekend was a huge success. Although the sky on sat nite was clouded, Mars was viewed (and seen better than firday night as the high cloud filtered some of the light and the still atmosphere helped us see some surface detail). Keep an eye on the forum for future events.

Still on the mars theme, i got to play with my LPI for the first time last night, and tried to take a shot of mars. Heres the 'best' results ! - Im still learning :-)

Those are excellent Mark. Are they individual frames or are they stacked?

They were captured with the LPI using the Meade Envisge software, and i think there were roughly about 15 frames per image, auto stacked and aligned by the software. Took me a good hour to get that far... steep learning curve Also have a DSI, but couldn't get any results with that, when trying for the Great Orion Nebula. Maybe some other night ..........
