Yip i saw that pillar as well from 16.00 until after sunset. A lovely + 10 degrees tall bright bar that changed colour from yellow, gold, pink and red. John and i where discussing it over the phone..it is the best one i have seen since April. Lovely images Paul and Markk

Thanks Neill
Yes the evening sky has been amazing this week with lovely sunsets and a host of nice atmospheric phenomena..i have a really good feeling about these 2 dark periods comming up to Christmas. I wish a bright comet would suddenly appear over this period as i recall some great memories observing comet Machholz last christmas with church bells playing Christmas songs while i admired the comet..perfect atmosphere for such things. There seems to be a chance of snow storms this week, would be nice to see images of Venus with snow in the same shot! That fog is too bad for telescopic observing tonight but i will wait to see if it lifts.
I have heard from the MPML that 2 new asteroids have been discovered that are members of the Taurid complex, now there is talk of even more enhanced fireball/bolide activity now so do keep watch everyone...clear skies

Round my way was not too bad last night. Went for a walk through the woods and it was cold and the air was filled with a lot of moisture. The moon rise was absolutely amazing, it was sooo orange. And to top it of I spotted lovely bright slow burning orange meteor that lasted about 3-4 seconds.(possible taurid).

Thats what I thought at the time, what an unreal colour. I was walking through woods at the time so it looked quite spooky.
