Lovely sunset this evening with the suns disk visible with the naked eye in a slightly murky sky. Looked to have the beginnings of a sun pillar forming however nothing much has developed so far. Earlier i seen a nice orange solar corona..the second time i have ever seen one. Heres a snap shot anyway..

Martin, lovely colours. Makes you almost forget you're in Northern Ireland and somewhere more exotic instead!

Thanks Veronica..hard to believe it was taken from a building site near my house lol Had to do a bit of dangerous climping to get that shot ..pity there was no pillar.

Nice shot Martin! Now the thing with Larne is that being on the east coast, we have to fight for our sunsets! Here's one taken just a few minutes ago :-) Clear, if somewhat hazy skies. Paul.

Wow Paul that is a beauty! I like the 'prominences' you caught on the lower left of the disk

Yes, the whole bottom half of the Sun's disk was boiling with turbulence. The fast shutter speed (1/500th) has caught just part of the wave.
Paul.

Thanks both. Conor, no, no filters although it was post-processed from the RAW file. Rule 1 of digital photography was applied - do not allow any part of the picture to be overexposed!
