Excellent images Martin, well caught!
I've never seen NLCs and am somewhat disadvantaged locationwise - North's not so good from here. But I'll keep an eye out anyway!

Certainly looks promising Martin, thanks for the text, I did have a look but the cloud was 100%. Hopefully one of these nights we will get it clear, maybe tonight??

Paul, you don't know what you've missed! Here's one I got in June last year, I think Martin was clouded out for this one? Nothing fancy camera rested on the roof of the car!! The bright star on the left is Capella.

Tom from the Uk NLC homepage emailed me there and agrees that the NLC season has got of to a lively start which maybe an indication of bigger things to come. There have been possible sightings on the last 3 nights in a row! John looks like your sunspot minimum theory could be correct
