Got this image of a beautiful coloured sundog this evening over in the north west. At one stage there were two, one either side, but the other lasted only minutes. This was the best of several images taken.

Yep, saw that here too. Interesting was the way it changed from almost a partial arc to a much rounder shape over a few minutes. I'll post a couple of pictures later.
Paul.

Here's the neat little round sundog from Larne... And whilst I waited for a pillar, it never came, just this red sky... And that was enough cloud to put paid to any chance of seeing Mercury, Mars or Saturn! Paul.

Nice captures! Caught this one driving through Belfast - took the camera with me as I was expecting something. I shot it while sitting at a red light, the guy behind me must've thought I was a bit weird! Thought we'd be treated to a pillar, but no...oh well.

Nicely done Veronica, i could imagine the look on his face Nice captures Paul, it is very oval in shape. From Maghera the dogs were coloured vertical pillars 7* tall. John and i seen that vivid crimson sunset yeaterday while talking on the phone. It was a real beauty and we expected to see a pillar but it never appeared. Whats the weather for tonight?

www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/today.aspBit of cloud As for my photo, Martin, I'm surprised it came out so well, considering it was taken through a bug-splattered windscreen Here's hoping for more great skies tonight!

Weatherman keeps changing his mind! I got a not very good shot that demonstrates something I hadn't considered before - as the sun sets, so does the sundog! Clear skies, Paul.

Hello eveyone. New to the board. Must say you guys have been capturing some great stuff recently. I too caught the halos on Sunday evening. Thought i'd share a few pics of the event. The UTA had a nice 'V' shape due to the low sun altitude and a faint CZA was visible for a few minutes (to faint to showup on my cheapo digital camera!). Bill

Hi Bill Welcome to the forum. Great pics there, i see what you mean regarding the shape of the UTA. Thats a real bright 22* western sundog you caught there which seems to be merging with a possible section of a sun halo. Nice work seeing the CZA! Keep them comming. Looks to be clear skies tonight

Hello Bill!
Those are great photos - I've yet to witness a UTA or CZA so thanks for sharing some images of local phenomena! Keep them coming!
