Martin, they still show up, especially in the 2nd picture! There was waaaaay too much haze low down last night in Lisburn to see anything! I'm off to Mark's weather portal to check out the cloud for tonight and intend staying up as long as possible to watch the sky. I'm keeping everything crossed for a visual on any NLCs!

It's certainly there ok, but far too low for me from home. In any case it was far too hazy.

Thanks John and Veronica Tom from the UK NLC homepage also had a sighting last night from Scotland. Good luck tonight Veronica, i will be thinking of you while doing my own NLC watch from here. John i would say that this display was way to low to be seen from your location for sure, hopefully tonight we will get a bigger one

I would like to share this image of an NLC display taken last night from Cumbria by a photographer from the UKWW forum called Tina. It is her first NLC image and i think you will agree it is beautiful. She gave me her kind permission to share it here..

That's a really great photo, very atmospheric. Well done Tina!
I think I saw my first NLC on Saturday night. To the northwest, just above the golden horizon, as the sky merged into dark blue, I saw a smallish (less than 10*?) area of electric blue. As my eyes adjusted, I could make out a few very faint bands of "whiter" blue. I looked at them through the binoculars and they looked like airplane contrails, except they didn't move away, dissipate or chage shape. I tried taking some photos, but the bands were just to pale and none of the photos showed them (they were easier to see through the binoculars).

Martin, for sure! The electric blue area showed up when I really enlarged the image, but it was such a poor image, I deleted it! I'll just have to keep trying!
