yes start light that is! I have finally got dark skies and took out the Canon. Settings are iso 800, f/3.2 and 30 secs. Having problems with focus... This is the best focused shot I got but then the moon had rose and didnt pick up much detail

Nice work Conor - look at the structure within the Milky Way!, and M31 looks great!

Nice results Conor! You shot them RAW I hope? Because there's actually a lot of detail in both of those shots that can be brought out by processing, and that will be easier with the RAW files to work on.
Clear skies,
Paul.

Jpeg Shooting RAW means you can push the image further on processing? I had a far better image though it was far better outa focus! Looks like I will have to buy a lens! Edit: When i shoot RAW in the end i convert it to TIFF on PSP

Yeah, convert to 16bit Tiff, adjust levels in 16nit then convert to 8bit for final adjustment.

Holy smoke, Conor! What a result! The unprocessed image was great in itself, with the Milky Way and M31 and the Double Cluster, but that processed image is FANTASTIC! I'm really impressed with that!
I really want to go out and try this with my camera, but I don't think I've RAW mode on it (can't seem to find any reference to it either on the camera or with the manual).
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing more of this from you!

Hi Conor, Your camera should have come with a piece of software called 'Digital Photo Professional'. This, in my opinion, is the best tool for processing the RAW image. It's a bit quirky in the way it works but it does work! Good job BTW, well done.
