Hi all, I really enjoyed last night and thanks to all involved. I want to recommend two things which have helped me immensely over the past month (it has flown in!) Neil Patterson recommended Turn Left at Orion and it truly is a wonderful book for beginners and has been a constant companion, it's beautifully written with dashes of humour and is a joy to read. The other thing is the BBC series Space which I watched again on Sunday night when I learned the nature of Dr Asher's talk. Thanks to this I understood the majority of his talk (the occultation part lost me a little, okay, a lot) and Conor, it does have a wonderful episode on black holes.
PS Re the gorgons (nice pictures by the way Eamonn) I wanted to be Medusa when I was growing up, still kinda do!

Yes 'Turn Left At Orion' is a wonderful book isn't Mia? This was the very first observing guide I ever bought which still sits proudly on my book shelf. I liked the comments toward the end regarding a mis aligned finder scope, if I recall from memory it said... 'A mis aligned finder is a work of the devil causing stargazers to stay inside and watch re- runs on tv - don't let it happen to you' I love it

I agree - last night was very good indeed. I must admit to never having read Turn Left At Orion...perhaps that will now change! Thanks to all involved for a great talk by the way!
