Has anyone any advice to give for a tripod for binocular use ?
My bino's are 16 x 80 ( i think ) and i find star watching is frustrated by trying to hold these things steady for a time at such an awkward angle Any advice for more comfortable viewing or a suitable tripod ?
thanks

yes the best advice is to get an L adapter, check your binos there should be a place to connect it, after that all you need is a camera tripod to attach it to.

16x80s are quite big so if you can afford it or if you can make a tripod, I would go for the proper dual-arm tripod. The advantage being that you can lie down in a lounger and have the binos sitting over your position and look up while relaxing. www.astro-engineering.com/Binocular%20Mountings/binocularmountin.htmlWould be a nice project for the DIYer. Otherwise, a good head height tripod with the adapter already mentioned is what I use.

Ah Ha.
Many thanks for the help everyone. My bino's do indeed have a socket & I see now the adapter is the key factor to facilitate a standard tripod. I can see the perfect solution in Marks specified web site, as I'm a bit tall and I assume this would let you get well underneath the eyepieces - although its maybe a bit pricey ?
Maybe I'll try the lounger - does anyone ever wonder what the neighbours might be thinking ?
