I'm new to the EAAS having just joined in September 07. The standard of the presentations have been excellent and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all at future meetings. I am a relative beginner and don't have my own scope as yet, but am looking forward to attending the viewing evenings this winter.

Hi Ian! Glad to have you aboard, you fellow lefthander! (we're all so special! ) I'm delighted you're happy with the talks! You're doing the right thing not rushing the decision to buy a scope. Come along to any of the nights we get out observing and have look through the many differents scopes the people on here have. We also have impromptu sessions if the weather is good, so keep an eye on here or pm your phone number to Neil, Stevie or Eamonn (nemesis) They're the constants for the obs, so one of them will contact you if we ever get clear skies again

Hi Ian and welcome!
Great to hear you've enjoyed the talks so far; I agree - they've been very good. We all must be in the small minority of people who actually look forward to the winter and the clear nights it brings...hopefully the next group session isn't too long in coming. As Mia said, don't be afraid to ask (not that you need to) to have a look-see through the various scoped - there's all types and sizes knocking about.
