Wish I had but 8 grand spare which I dont and if I had I am sure the wife would make short work of it. Any way I do have £2-300 from which I hope to get a decent scope mainly for simply viewing purposes but also the option of taking the occasional images. I have a canon 350 DSLR with sigma 70-300 APO so would welcome any suggestions on a suitable scope.
John.

You can alos check out the Celestron Nexstar range, they'll fall into your budget along with the Skywatcher series.
I think Brendan (themystif) has a Nexstar 102.

Brendan ended up going for the Meade DS2080AT, 4" refractor. Loves it. If only he could get using it more!

Hello John. Yeah I ended up going for the Meade 4" Goto Refractor after much searching. I was actually going to go for the 4.75" Skywatcher refractor, but after seeing Eamonn's large refractor, the size kinda put me off. As far as I can remember the Skywatcher has a direct SLR mount which the Meade doesn't. The model I was looking at was the Evostar 120 (EQ3-2) Here is a link to the site that I was going to purchase the Skywatcher from www.opticalvision.co.uk/astronomical_telescopes/sky-watcher/refractors. Hope this helps, and look forward to meeting you.
