We've had a few new people on recently, and as observing nights seem to be few and far between because of the weather (mind you, next Tuesday is looking good) I'd like to put forward the following. Sometimes actually finding out how your scope works, if it needs adjusted etc can be difficult in the dark...especially if you're wanting to see stuff at a session. So, if anyone's interested, I think some of us members would probably be willing to get together some evening for a get-together to sort out things in advance. It might be an opportunity to ak questions, plan observing targets, get your scope looked over etc. Anyway..any comments are welcome.

I think that's a very good idea, plus it would enable us to get to know each other and put faces to names before going out to dark carparks - it took me months to recognise people as I only ever "saw" them in the dark.

;D
I remember going to my first meeting and marching up to women saying 'Veronica! Hi!' and being told repeatedly that they weren't you! I think I permanently scarred poor Davey by demanding why he was ignoring me after speaking to him in the dark at Killylane!
I'm up for this as well, it's be nice to be shown how to use the GoTo on the 105 whilst actually SEEING what's being done as opposed to straining my eyes in the dark!

I suppose I should be thankful that you didn't walk up to some big bloke and shout "Veronica! Hi" (did you know you sound like Neil Patterson when you say that???!!!) ;D

You should hear the way I say 'refractor' now! I can't help it! Honestly, I spend one weekend with that lot and end up speaking different, it must be the musical ear picking it up! (I used to hang around with an American girl and spoke with an American accent for ages!)
