Nice scope Davey, good for you. Let us know what eyepieces you got with it, and we can go from there. You will definitely need at least one 2inch wide angle eyepiece, maybe around 28mm, and a good 6 to 10mm 1.25 eyepiece for planets. Talk to Neil, he's the eyepiece expert.

I think you get a 2 inch Meade 26mm eyepiece with that, and that'll do fine for a wide angle for a while. My own recommendation is to get a 15-16mm and maybe a 10mm or so. They'll both be 1.25 inch eyepieces, and most likely Plossl types. Smaller ones like Stevie suggests are good for planets, but you won't use them too often. A better idea might be a good x2 Barlow lens. With those eypieces listed above, that means you've a 26, 16, 13, 10, 8 and 5mm options, giving you magnifications with your scope of about 50, 75,84, 120, 150 and 240 or so...that'll cover everything!

Congrats Davey on your new Dob!!! You beat me to it! Can we blame you for the bad weather now??!! Davey, if you ask Neil nicely (or threaten him as I usually do!) he has a great scope calculator in excel which can help you determine the gaps in your EP's including if you're using a X2 barlow as Eamonn suggested. You enter your aperture and focal length and the calculator does the rest! You can work out the gaps in magnification as he has listed (probably!!) every EP in existence so your current Meade EP's will be there! He'll probably be able to explain it better than me as well! If he says no, just pm me and I'll send you and we'll not tell him, he'll never find out!!
