Anyone interested in a late night on the morning of October 28th? There is a total lunar eclipse visible from Northern Ireland - trouble is it peaks around 0300hrs with totality running 40 mins or so either side of that. Should be a good one if the weather holds. Any suggestions for a venue with a clear view to the west? P.

If the weather is good, I'm definitely interested. Slieve Croob has a good view of West and we could do a bit of a Messier Marathon too as that is the time of year when 98 are visible.

Mark, you will probably find it difficult to get 98 Messier objects on the night of Full Moon! Better to consentrate on the Total Eclipse as I think the next one entirely visible from UK will be March 3rd 2007. ;D Regards, Johnmc.

Silly me, of course the full moon might be a bit of a hinderance It is very late at 4am BST. I hope the weather is favourable. I was thinking on doing a live webcast but would have to do it from my house so maybe Slieve Croob will wait. The most important thing is to get a clear view of the Moon, not necessarily perfect skies like at Slieve Croob. M
