been looking at this site www.sat24.com/Region.aspx?country=gb&sat=ir&type=loop by looking at the animation it looks to be quite handy for seeing where the cloud is going, and hopefully maybe even where the clear skies are coming from. Maybe not that far in advance but enough to consider a trip to killylane that night etc. Today for instance i have been able to observe patchy cloud trying to come across from Ayr, sadly at the moment it appears to me making it whereas earlier in the day it was evaporating over the sea

It's a very handy site Mark, I use it a lot. For instance, right at this moment, I can see the big cloud covering South Antrim and Belfast, while everywhere else is clear.

It was lovely and clear down my way tonight and I got out for some fantastic observing. The cold was too much for me in the end but I had some amazing views. I'll be sure to update my blog in the next day or two.
I use that site all the time. It's and excellent tool for forecasting
