I have been asked by a chap in Coleraine to offer this telescope for sale. The scope is 12 years old, but has had little usage. He would accept £700. If anyone is interested, please contact me and I will pass your details on.

There was a problem with the electronics , but this has now been repaired. The price has dropped to £600, or for the original £700, he will throw in a Starlight Express ccd camera.

Hi there
Is this still available ?
Would it suit as a first telescope for a beginner ?

The telescope is still available, althouh there is a serious buyer in the pipeline, but, to be perfectly honest, would not really be suitable for a beginner. This telescope is big, heavy, electronically complicated and ideally requires permanent mounting in an observatory. For advice on choosing a beginner's telescope, see the "Choosing a first telescope" thread in the beginner's section.

Thanks guys :0) , I don't mind spending a few quid rather than having to change in a year or so.I'm looking for really good results from day 1 rather than baby steps ... bit impatient that way. Biggest problem I'm facing is how I figure out if the light pollution in my area (ballyhackamore,Belfast) rules out me bothering at all.
