Hello everyone, my name is Barry and I recently moved to Derry and want to rekindle my interest in astronomy. Summer is hardly the best time, but there you go. I have a couple of Takahashi refractors and a Meade dobsonian which I'm embarrassed to say that between work and light pollution, I hardly ever use anymore. I really want to make amends and would be keen to meet up with you guys for any upcoming observing sessions. I'm really just at the novice stage in astronomical knowledge and would definitely benefit from some seasoned observers' guidance.

A novice with two Tak refractors? Flip.
There's plenty of dark skies up your way, so hopefully you'll be able to get out a bit more.
I'm sure Ronny and/or Jason would be delighted to meet up with you some time soon, and you are more than welcome to come along to any of our observing sessions.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Stevie, you know the saying - "All the gear and no idea(r)". I have 2 Taks because I primarily use the little-un for H-alpha observing. And yes, I realise the stupidity of using an apochromat for monochromatic observing :-) Would be great to touch base with some of you guys, and thanks for the welcome, Barry

Hi guys, I just got a Celestron Nexstar 8se and I am interested in getting involved in the astronomy scene here in Derry, If anyone has any tips on where to get involved, that would be great.
Cheers
Conor
