The forecast is not looking good at the moment, it is giving pretty cloudy. Are we going regardless or is there a chance this will event will be called off?

Neil, if you come to the zoo, and Noah's Ark is parked outside, then we may have to cancel.
Seriously, I'll definitely be there, and so will a few others. But, I wouldn't blame anyone who felt it wasn't worth while coming along. The BBC is forecasting light cloud from 8am to midday.
On a more optimistic note, clear skies are forecast for Armagh on Tuesday night.

I got to see it from the start right up to about 80% coverage. It clouded over heavily but got a few cracks in the clouds to see it three times after the best coverage. It did get fairly dark and it was a thrilling experience overall, just a shame I didn't get to see the sun when it was most covered.

It was a great show at the zoo, the skies cleared about 9-30 and lasted right up to 10-35 ish. There was a great crowd that turned up as well to view it.

Many Thanks to all who came along this morning, it was a memorable event, and we were amazingly lucky with the weather.
And a big Thanks to Phil for organizing it all, especially for the idea of going to the zoo. If we had gone to Knockagh, we would probably have all been arrested for blocking up the roads. I reckon there was around 150 people present.
Hopefully we can use the zoo again in September for the lunar eclipse.

It truly was a memorable event when i arrived about 7.45 it was dark and grey and i thought we were sunk. But the weather played ball for once and we had good clear spells.
It was amazing how cold it got when the moon coverage got to its peak. I thought it got very windy too! But that could be just me.
Yes Phil thank you for organizing it and also a big thanks should go to your wife and children who also played their part!

Thanks everyone for coming! Great event and I had a super time at it! Thanks for the kind words, but I didn't do it alone, without the support of our committee and members we couldn't have pulled it off! I'm sorry for the ones who had to work that morning, it really did turn out as one of the best society events i've ever been involved with and possibly one of the best in the clubs history! I think there is a real buzz with astronomy in general this year and lets hope we can carry on where we left off. I have put a small report together for the home page if you would like to have a read!

Totally agree, it was an incredible sight. Well done to Phil/Stevie and all for organising, and excellent images captured of it too. Hopefully tomorrow night will be just as successful.

The cloud cover here was light & I was able to see the whole eclipse, a fantastic sight.
Did anyone notice light coming across the moons disc at the 11 o'clock position during the first half of the eclipse? It was as if the sunlight was coming through a valley on the moon.
The experience has gave me an idea to go and see the total eclipse in USA in 2017 and combine it with a trip to see the barringer crater in Arizona, both of which are on my bucket list.
