Great images Robert and Veronica, looks like this display was a success for the majority of the observers on the EAAS! I seen it here from 23.30 - 03.30 BST although it was still visible as dawn was breaking. The display reached its peak between 00.00 - 02.00 were it extended + 120* from the W - E sky through Lynx, Auriga, Perseus, Andromeda, Triangulum, Aries, Pisces and Pegasus. It reached over 40* high until it was nearing the southern border of Cassiopeia! It was a stunningly bright type 5 display with type II, IIb bands, III, IIIa waves, IVc whirls, S knots, P billows, O structure. My sister and i observed it from a dark country location were the sky seemed to light up. It was very errie looking at times when we could clearily see the shape of a running man, dolphin and tornado all wrapped up in the intense coloured glowing clouds. Also seen an irdium flares pass through it. This display was just as good as the one on June 2nd. This was absolutely spectacular and i am very glad my sister got to witness the apparition which she described as 'the end of the world' lol. Ended up with over 100 images. This is the 3rd night in a row of NLCs and my 11th sighting of the season.

Top quality shots Martin! I wish I'd stayed up longer now but i'm very happy with what I saw - the 3rd display of the season for me and also the 3rd of my life!
Congrats on the SW Front Page BTW!
Paul.

Martin - beautiful images! It certainly was a sight wasn't it! I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it developing, and how over the moon I was that it was such a good show for my first proper sighting!

Cheers Paul and Martin, Those pictures are excellent Martin, you've picked up the strong golden\amber colour that the NLCs had nearer the horizon. i have to agree with your sister, NLCs are spooky alright!

O BTW if any of you are having problems playing the video with windows media player, like it appears jerky for example. Go to Tools-->Options-->Performance-->advanced and select 'use overlays'. High quality mode is the best but some PCs (like this laptop im using!) can't hack HQ mode.

Thanks everyone for the comments and thanks Paul for the spaceweather mention. Thats twice we have been on in over 2 weeks lol. Looks like this NLC display was widely seen last night from various parts of the world. In some locations it covered almost the entire sky from latitudes further north. I have 100 images in my collection from just last night alone and i am very happy with them. I have a selection of zoomed in 10X optical zoom captures showing incredible 3 - D waves 'blowing' by Capella with awesome structure and colour. The iridum flare was a nice sight dropping straight by Capella into the NLCs. Also seen a bright ISS passage and the most beauitful blood red moonrise. I noticed that staring at the NLCs hampered my dark adaption greatly showing just how bright they were. The adrenaline is still pumping from last night Congrats Veronica on your first NLC image! Im having touble Robert with the avi but i will try it again now.

Ive stuck mine on www.cervesca.demon.co.uk/astrophotos/NLC/ not a webpage as such just file storage. Each image apart from the the panaromas is only about 20-30k easily downloadable. Congratulations to Paul & Martin for getting them up on spaceweather! Was a beautiful night last night, great for this kind of photography only problem was by the time i got home it was starting to get light, hence i only managed a very short imaging session through the telescope.

I've discovered and got canon remote shooting to work, only problem is the scenery here is crap! Low cloudy and pretty much over cast here, so that will be for another night.Worked up some panoramic ones unfortunately the ones down at the lough dont work to well, a little rotation there i think. Looking N from the Airport towards Antrim and Tardree. Looking at Antrim Athletics track, Castle Grounds Tiny pic appears to be having problems ill upload the final one up at the forest later
