Stephen, glad you got to see it too. It's a spectacle that I certainly won't forget!

Thats a nice image kryss. I like the way you caught the reflection of the western section of the NLCs on the water!

Its a great place for those kind of shots, cant help but feel a little self conscious getting a camera and a tripod out at a local courting spot! Keep meaning to pick a few spots out in daylight as well - Oxford Island would be a good place as your looking due North over the lough but thats locked up at night - Lough Beg might be quite good.

Hi Jonathan, i was completley clouded out last night also so i watched a DVD instead (not a very good one i must say lol) however there were sightings of a faint NLC display last night from England and Germany. Good clear patches developing here now so maybe we will have better luck tonight.
Clear skies all

Kryss, that's a lovely panorama! BTW, you can get access to Oxford Island - apparently there's one of the car parks that isn't locked. Keep meaning to go up sometime myself to check it out for darkness.

Yep Veronica I'd heard that but I'd also heard from a girl who worked there last year that theres a lot of other night time activity there and id be reluctant to go there on my own! Especially with a camera and tripod. We should all pile down there some night and set the scopes up! The best place Ive been to really in the last year was down near Strangford at the Mars watch, dark and private.

The only dark sky you will get at Oxford Island is out over the lough, the rest of the sky is spoiled by the pollution from Craigavon. I hear that carpark is not the healthiest of places on your own never mind with a camera!
